The tone of all pianos gradually gets worse over time. When the tone of your piano isn't beautiful, no amount of tuning will make the piano sound beautiful, and it's difficult to make any piece of music sound beautiful. "Voicing" the piano brings back the beautiful tone!
Many people believe that the tone of a piano, like a violin, gets better and better with age. The opposite is usually the case, since a piano is a far more complex instrument than a violin. As a piano passes from one year to the next, it's tone gradually deteriorates, due to wear and tear on the hammers, strings, soundboard, bridges and action.
The beautiful tone can usually be restored, however! We specialize in bringing back the special tone it once had, or modifying it's existing tone to something that you like better. This process is referred to as "voicing" your piano. In some cases, such as older or heavily used pianos, we'll also replace hammers and strings to bring back the lovely, rich tone the piano once had.
Did you just buy a brand new piano, but now that it's in the house you don't like its tone? We can make it sound beautiful! Do you find the tone of your piano too thin? Harsh? Tinny? Too mellow? Is it too dull? Too bright? Brash? Does it hurt your ears? Whatever the condition of your piano's tone, we are skilled at voicing your piano and modifying the tone to something that pleases you and sounds beautiful. After all, playing or listening to the piano is about beauty, so the tone of your piano should be beautiful in order for you to have a pleasing experience when playing!
